Chinese playgroups

This course offers preschool children (aged 4 and 5) the opportunity to learn their first words in a foreign language through play, singing, rhymes, dance, puppets, theatre and art. This creative environment gives them the confidence for subsequent language learning. Chinese playgroups are fun and also provide children with precious knowledge and a feeling for the language that will be useful in later years.

Small children are like sponges. They absorb all the knowledge that is offered to them. This is something that also certainly applies to foreign language playgroups. Our teachers ensure that the new language is presented in an enjoyable and diverse manner, allowing the child to experience a new linguistic system spontaneously and begin to internalise it. Every single lesson is carefully prepared down to the last detail. We make sure that it is as varied and entertaining as possible.

Aims of early language learning

• The keys to successful long-term learning are a positive attitude to the foreign language and good motivation. Interactive activities enable learners to develop a sense for the language while building confidence and learning enjoyment.
• Mastering the basics of the unique sound system and melody of a foreign language helps learners understand the special features of pronunciation. This is important for correct and fluent expression. Learners gain a sense for the rhythm of the language, which facilitates natural communication.
• Mastering the basics of the cultural background encourages intercultural understanding and empathy. Stories, songs and the customs and traditions of the foreign culture teach learners to respect and understand different social norms, which increases their openness and tolerance of difference.
• The development of basic communication skills such as listening and speaking provides solid foundations for further learning. By listening and participating actively in conversations, students learn to quickly recognise and use key words and phrases in different situations.
• Developing creativity and imagination is an important part of the process, since it encourages children to use the language in an innovative way. This includes role playing, storytelling, creating their own texts and taking part in language games, all of which helps strengthen language skills in a fun and stimulating way.
