On the Sculpture for adults course, participants learn the basic principles of modelling in clay. By practicing skills and observation, they create a portrait, figure or other original sculpture. They then go on to learn about other sculptural materials and techniques.

The sculpture course is aimed both at individuals encountering clay for the first time and those who would like to build on their existing skills. The workshops are based on observation of the world around us and on transferring the images we observe into clay. Participants will try sculpting from a model, working their way gradually from simple forms to more complex ones (egg, stylised head, plaster portrait, live portrait, human figure) at the same time as familiarising themselves with the basic principles of modelling in clay and the technical processes of working with clay such as hollowing, assembly and various decorative techniques such as patination, engobing and glazing.
The course is also aimed at more skilled participants who have already mastered sculpting from a model and who now also wish to develop their own creativity. Course participants will learn about various sculpture techniques and materials such as iron, wood and plaster and undertake interesting assignments and challenges designed to stimulate creativity, artistic thinking and their own artistic expression.
