Preschool children (aged 4 and 5) learn their first words in a foreign language through play, singing, rhymes, dance, puppets, theatre and art. In a safe and creative environment, they gain the confidence they need to progress in their ongoing acquisition of the new language.
Children do not just have fun in the playgroups, they gain a lot from them in terms of knowledge and a feeling for a foreign language that becomes evident in later years. Small children are like sponges, absorbing all the knowledge that is offered to them. This also applies to foreign language playgroups, where our teachers ensure that the new language is presented in an enjoyable and diverse manner, allowing the child to experience a new linguistic system spontaneously and begin to internalise it. Each individual lesson is carefully prepared down to the last detail to ensure that it is as dynamic and varied as possible, with specific lesson goals set each time.
Aims of early language learning:
fostering a positive attitude towards the foreign language and encouraging and strengthening motivation for learning
acquisition of the basics of the sound system and melody of the foreign language
acquisition of the basics of the cultural background
development of basic communication skills (listening and speaking)
