Film
Pionirski dom is a pioneer in various fields, including teaching children about cinema and filmmaking. We have been offering our Film course for decades. The aim of the workshops is for participants to get to know the entire process of making a film, covering all the steps from first idea to final product – the film itself. Alongside technical and creative skills, participants develop a critical attitude towards cinematic art, which helps them better understand the language of film and the message and impact of cinematic creativity.
Workshop activities are divided into five thematic units. Each unit begins with an introduction, where we introduce the basic concepts, techniques and principles that form the central theme of the unit. Participants then watch selected films or extracts from films that demonstrate the use of specific techniques or terms in practice. On the basis of these examples, we carry out an in-depth analysis in order to discover together how filmmakers use cinematic tools to influence the viewer and how individual techniques are realised. Through discussion with participants, we explore their understanding of specific cinematic terminology and additionally clarify its use and purpose in the context of filmmaking.
Film course participants get to test their theoretical knowledge in practice
The core of each thematic unit consists of practical exercises where participants can try out their theoretical knowledge in practice. The emphasis here is not only on technical implementation but also on stimulating creativity and individual expression. The result of each exercise is a short film created by participants independently or in groups. When the exercises are complete, we jointly analyse the films and the filmmaking process and summarise the key insights gained over the course of the unit.
Involvement in the film community
With the films they make, participants get actively involved with film community, entering their products in various film festivals and competitions. This provides them with valuable feedback from a wider audience and additional motivation to continue creating and further improve their skills. Thus the workshops not only offer participants theoretical and practical knowledge, they encourage them to create independently and think critically, which represents a foundation for the further development in the world of film.
