Individual bass guitar lessons, 30 minutes a week
Learning the bass guitar is a comprehensive and flexible experience, where participants gain a wide range of musical knowledge and skills. The individual bass guitar lessons (30 minutes weekly) course includes chordal accompaniment, reading and writing music, and chords. Course participants also learn various playing techniques, explore different musical periods and styles, develop their musical ear and learn the basics of improvisation and arrangement. Individual lessons mean that the course can be adapted to learners’ aims, interests and prior knowledge. Advanced courses open the doors to more advanced techniques and compositions and prepare learners for secondary music school entrance exams.
Participants also learn to make music together and regularly take part in Pionirski dom events and other events, which provides them with a rich musical experience and an introduction to performing on stage.
Varied content of the Individual bass guitar lessons (30 minutes weekly) course
Bass guitar lessons cover the following content:
- getting to know different types of bass guitar and their characteristics,
- parts of the bass guitar/double bass and additional equipment,
- different musical styles and playing techniques,
- bass guitar terminology and wider musical vocabulary,
- basics of reading music, writing music and chords,
- rhythm, melody and harmony,
- basics of acoustics,
- setting up the instrument,
- playing in a band – exercises for group playing onstage and in the studio,
- playing in the students’ band.
The course is designed in such a way that it can be adapted to the age, interests, prior musical knowledge and abilities of the individual, which ensures optimal development both for beginners and for more experienced learners.
Playing the bass guitar is a unique opportunity for a musician to connect rhythm and melody, since the bass is the foundation of every musical composition. It develops the player’s musical ear, technical skills and sense of rhythm and harmony and encourages creativity through improvisation and the creation of original bass lines. The bass player is a key member of any band, which means an opportunity to work with other musicians, develop a collective spirit and perform. At the same time, bass playing covers a wide range of musical styles, from funk to jazz, and leaves plenty of room for personal expression.
