ARTpass

ARTpass is an original course for children aged 11+ and teenagers. The course focuses on the basics of drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking. Its main advantage is that it covers all artistic fields and in this way contributes to holistic development. From working on a flat surface, which strengthens abstract thinking, to tactile expression in three-dimensional space, which develops fine motor skills. Above all, it encourages the connection between these two different modes of spatial expression, which strengthens the child’s motor skills and visual and emotional growth. The aim of the ARTpass course is to contribute to the overall development of the child.

Participants learn that drawing is the basic means of artistic expression, which can serve either as a sketch or as a final product. They can enhance the drawing using various colouring techniques, which leads them on to explore painting. The course covers a wide range of painting techniques, including watercolour, tempera, acrylic and collage, and encourages their combination and exploration. As participants familiarise themselves with painting, a new field of exploration opens up, that of printmaking, covering planographic printing, intaglio printing and relief printing. Participants try different techniques adapted to different age groups, including T-shirt printing, screen printing, cyanotype, Lego printing, tetragraphy, monotype, etc. As well as learning about different printmaking techniques, they familiarise themselves with the different materials – matrices and templates – on which they can print. They also touch on the field of design, for example with T-shirt printing.

Sculpture allows participants to freely express their ideas in three-dimensional space using materials such as clay, paper, cardboard, foam board, etc. They are introduced to both small and large sculptures and learn to pay attention not only to the plane but to the object as a whole. Via sculpture, they are also introduced to the field of architecture.

The course offers a wide range of expressive possibilities and focuses on developing the imagination, technical skills and individual expression. Through a range of tasks and projects, participants develop their observational skills and their understanding of colours, shapes and changing textures. The course builds self-confidence, fosters creative and critical thinking and promotes connections between children and different artistic fields. It is based on a versatile pedagogical approach and participants’ own artistic expression, which allows the holistic development of young artists.

Aim of the course

  1. Development of basic artistic skills and exploration of different artistic techniques and materials.
  2. Holistic development – encouraging individuality, development of observational skills, building self-confidence, fostering creativity, imagination and critical thinking.
