Dance performance ÒWE
photo: Yusuf
Òwe is a solo work inspired by meditations on Yoruba proverbs, proverbs that acts as an archive of ancestral knowledge, intuitions, and values of Yoruba people. This dance solo purposes to decode a fragmented, personal archive and observe it through the scope of the more objective cultural and historical archives, while using personal and found archival material as concept, visual design, and soundscape, with an energetic blend of traditional and contemporary movements. It is an emotional resurrection of a past that is both personal and ancestral.
