Sculpture for children

Sculpture for children is a course with numerous benefits that develops holistic creativity, spatial thinking and fine motor skills. Working with a range of materials including clay, paper, wood and modern materials, children gain practical skills while developing their planning and problem-solving abilities and technical precision. The process of creating works of sculpture teaches them patience and perseverance, since it often requires a high degree of precision and can take a considerable time. This builds discipline and self-confidence. The Sculpture for children course is aimed at children aged 11 and over.

The course also allows children to portray their own feelings, ideas and imagination through artistic expression, which stimulates their emotional intelligence and ability to communicate. Exploring space and three-dimensional shapes teaches them better perception of surroundings, improves their powers of observation and develops aesthetic understanding, which is an important part of developing visual literacy. By familiarising themselves with different materials and techniques and working on their own projects, children discover the satisfaction of creating something and a sense of achievement when they complete a project.

Building cultural awareness

At the same time, working with art builds their cultural awareness and artistic sensibilities. Sculpture is not simply an artistic activity, it is an experience that enriches children at the emotional, intellectual and social levels. By working together in groups they learn to help each other and share ideas, which also teaches them to respect difference.

Participants in the Sculpture for children course will learn to express their unique experiences and ideas through the special language of artistic sculpture.

Lessons will focus on:
