Preschool children (aged 4 and 5) learn their first words in a foreign language through play, singing, rhymes, dance, puppets, theatre and art. Our playgroups offer children their first contact with a foreign language in a fun and informal setting, where the environment in which they first encounter the language plays an important role. In a safe and creative environment, they gain the confidence they need to progress in their ongoing acquisition of the new language.
Aims of early language learning:
fostering a positive attitude towards the foreign language and encouraging and strengthening motivation for learning
acquisition of the basics of the sound system and melody of the foreign language
acquisition of the basics of the cultural background
development of basic communication skills (listening and speaking)
development of creativity and imagination
